Nov. and Dec. Learning

PE ~ During the months of Nov. and Dec. Cara has been consistently active. She continues to be physically active for 30+ minutes each day.

Daily physical activities revolve around unstructured outdoor play i.e. running/walking, various versions of tag, wagon pulling and most recently, snowplay (snowman making, shovelling). She plays cooperatively (for the most part) with 2-5 other children in the neighbourhood.

Weekly physical activities include structured swimming lessons (until 3rd week of Nov.) and then skating once/week (taught by mom).

Other physical activities that Cara has participated in throughout the past 2 months include biking, playground play, hiking, movement to music, homemade obstacle courses (including skills like hopping, kicking forwards and backwards, twisting), Simon Says (warm-up/stretching game).

Health and Career Education ~
Goal Setting ~ Cara has been encouraged to start setting goals for herself. During the past 2 months her goals have included "learning more about dogs" and "making a chart to records things that she saw in the community". She also is highly goal motivated by her "Healthy Eating Food Chart".

Safety ~ Very specific outdoor playing rules, including location boundaries and what to do if approached by a stranger, have been emphasized during the past 2 months.

Nutrition ~ Healthy Eating Food Chart - completed for 3 weeks.

Friendships ~ Cara is developing some very close friendships with the neighbours. However, she is sometimes challenged by the roles that each friend plays. She likes to be "in charge" and sometimes gets upsets when others want to be "in charge" too. "How to be a good friend" is a frequent topic of discussion. Cara has been part of the planning process for putting on a small Christmas party for her friends (i.e. guest list, food list, activity list and invitations).

Bible ~ Cara continues to journal about the fruit of the spirit and to be exposed to biblical truths through Bible readings, scripture memory, NEST family videos, daily discussions and prayer. Cara prays for her unbelieving friends and openly talks about God with them.
